The Audio Video Coding Standard (AVS) with independent intellectual property rights is our country's second-generation source coding standards.The coding efficiency of AVS is the same as H.264,another international standards,but the computational complexity is lower than it. AVS represents the international advanced level. Mainly used in digital terrestrial television broadcasting, cable television, multimedia services on packet networks, remote video surveillance and other fields.This thesis research focused mainly on three aspects: First, the AVS video coding standard analysis. AVS were compared with MPEG-2 and H.264 series of standards in the coding technology, computational complexity and coding efficiency three aspects; Secondly, studied the the key technologies of AVS video inter decoding ,including the choice of reference pictures, motion vectors and interpolation process. Designed the inter-frame decoding IP soft-core, including the motion vector generation module, prediction processing modules and interpolation modules. This greatly reduced the area of IP-core resources;Finally, part of inter-frame decoding module to do a detailed design and the synthesis and verification, including functional verification, timing verification and FPGA-based prototype verification .Use of standardized designs methods, not only by inter-frame decoding IP design with soft-core reusability, and the IP core in the various functional modules such as motion vector generation module, prediction processing modules and interpolation modules and so on with reusability. Provide a number of reusable modules for the further research of AVS video decoder.
