Reverse engineering (RE) technology is a burgeoning advanced manufacturing technology used to design and exploit new products. Shape data acquiring and data processing are two key problems. This paper concentrates on shape data acquiring and data processing and author makes the research on some current problems in reverse engineering technology based on concluding and reviewing previous work.The parts' digitization is acquired geometric coordinate data of discrete points in parts' surface, and does complex surface modeling, evaluation, improvement and manufacture on this basis. Thus, it's important for implementing data collection of parts' surface high efficiently and high precision. This paper is based on this, researching adaptive path planning problem of CMM. After realizing "self-study" type measurement, circular interpolation, polynomial method and four-polynomial method, this paper presents curvature continuous prediction method for CMM measurement. Though programming, we realize the actual measurement about the above methods finally, and verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the curvature continuous prediction method though two examples.It's the most critical and most complex aspect of the objects' three-dimensional CAD model reconstruction in reverse engineering, since they need the support of CAD digital model for follow-up products manufacturing, rapid prototyping, virtual manufacturing simulation, engineering analysis and product re-design. These applications require that the reconstructed CAD model can accurately restore the sample of object for different degrees. This paper discusses and researches model reconstruction method and steps based on the parts, and mainly discuss the curve and surface reconstruction method. Finally we also evaluate the accuracy of the reconstructed models.
