Reverse engineering technology in CAD is a advanced manufacturing technology,and which found math models based on sample the real material to,and productionand fast use these models guide production analyse, production manufacturing andproduction processing.reverse engineering is the most important part of fast prototypemodel manufacturing and fast model manufacturing technology ,it is widely used inindustry strypped-down,spaceflight and military etc. Dissertation mainly focus on reconstruct 3D model from sample sets and meshmodel simplification Discuss the basic conception of reverse engineering and itsapplication. Analyses the core technology in reverse engineering.Discuss MC(Marching cubes) algorithm to deal with the formal sample data set which is aclassical algorithm to extract iso-surface from regular volume data. Discuss how touse Radial Basis Function on 3D model reconstruction surface model from scattersample data set. Based on researching the model reconstruction algorithm, point out that themajor problem in reverse engineering recently is the data set coming from the modelreconstruction process is too large in scale,so it's hard to be displayed and disposed.Toovercome the bottle neck of the display and transmit mesh model. Discuss meshmodel simplification, mend a progressive mesh-model simplification method, whichimport new error control method and weigh of surface character and optimize themodel simplication process,to accelerate the process of mesh model simplification andmaintain surfacer appearance of the model.
