The damage to electronic-equipment induced by drop/impact in the transporting and using process is the main forms of failure. When electronic products dropped, they will response the complexity of nonlinear dynamic by the collision of dynamic loads arising in a very short time. In this process,we should consider with not only the geometric and material nonlinearity, but also the nonlinear contact interface problem,which made the process a quite complexity. We introduce the Finite Element Method (FEM), which is comparative effectiveness in this field.In this paper, we conducted a drop experiment of a mobile telephone, and use the DTM fall Analog modules of ANSYS/LS-DYNA simulating the process. At the physical experiments, we mainly consider the impact factors, including the weight and the crisp value of the falling products, the way of transporting, the falling height and posture and so on. Through the test device built by us, we got the mobile phone's acceleration changes situation when impacting. In the simulation experiments we first make a model of mobile telephone, then use the finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA simulate the drop experiment, and get the stress/strain cloud and dynamic characteristics such as the acceleration response. We have studied the dynamic characteristics of the failling process, the collision of drop/impact, the changes of the shape and material properties of the mobile phone, as well as the response of the package. We can use the data to repeatedly modify the model parameters, and optimize the product structure and the size of the buffer packaging, then we can design a reasonable product structure and its cushioning packaging. In this part, we mainly study the pre-treatment of the finite element model, especially in how to select the right unit type, the division of the grid and contacts settings.Through the simulation, we can get more reliable data than the physical experiment. By analysing the simulation results, we can provide a basis gist for the product design and remodel, and greatly enhance the capacity of the enterprise R&D and the competitiveness of the products, reduce the accident loss for the enterprises, ensure and maintain business operations, sales and reputation, and create greater benefits for the enterprises.
