Entertainment Coverage And The Right Of The Public Discourse

The range and extent of the public participation in social services embody the level of one society's development, and the right of the public discourse is undoubtly a very important indicator to perform the extent of public participation. China had emerged from the feudal society for hundreds of years, but it still is surrounded by the impact of feudal thought, furthermore, the founding of New China experienced a lot of twists and turns, so in China, the development of the right of the public discourse is tortuous.It is the entertainment news that is closely related to the development of the public's right of discourse. Its appearance in China and also the course of its today's prosperity are not only a performance of its own development but also make a major contribution to the gradual establishment of Chinese's right of public discourse. During the process of establishing the public's right of discourse, entertainment news undertook a task of enlightenment, guidance, providing an opportunity and promotion.In this article, using the development of the entertainment news from the early 20th century to today as clue, I attempt to find out the overview of the realization in which human profiles changed from a silent mass to become such people who can strive to make the right to speak come true and become people who participate in society actively and use it during the process of the mass entertainment's changing. In the first stage, same as other contemporary news, entertainment news was imported things, at that time, the public has not really grown into shape, and entertainment news firstly emerged in Shanghai. At that time, the characteristics of ShangHai as a modern city provided an appropriate circumstance to allow the existence of entertainment news and keep a good trend of development at the loss of mass, and by this, ShangHai became China's origin of entertainment news. In the incident of Ruan Lingyu, for the first time, the existence of "public" was showed. They were neither elites nor silent groups, they had their own words to say, but at that time, the public discourse was dependent on the expression of political demands too much, and they had not so many channels to express their ideas. In the second stage, that was a period of time when China's society was surrounded by the revolution culture, entertainment news became a luxury, correspondingly, the mass became silent, all the people were affected by the whole revolution culture. The maximum performance of the development of revolutionary culture is the National People's entertainment life was wholly supported by the model operas, the rights of the public discourse was suppressed. At that time, the public became a truly silent group, they lived with fear everyday. In the third stage, it was the initial stage of reform and opening up, the biggest change appeared in people's minds, and the way of life also was changed. The richment of material wealth lead to the emergence of spiritual needs. The class of public began to take shape officially. Because of the long—time detention, the public discourse showed a rapid situation at the beginning of reform and opening-up , and the whole community was impetuous to certain extent. In the fourth stage, that is the most recent two decades, due to the emergence of the network, as well as the impact of globalization., China has entered an era which is different from the past. The emergence of the network is not only a technically success, but also a break-through development of people's lives. The richment of channels which people can use help reinforce the foundation of really establishing the leadership of right of discourse. But consequently coming were unexpected drawbacks, the inherent contradictions of popular culture were showed completely. To regulate the leadership right of public discourse should begin with eliminating the drawbacks of entertainment news.By way of illustration, analyzing examples, I try to give a whole and mutual-related introduction of entertainment news and the development of public right of discourse in this article, and to provide a historical perspective which can be used as reference for the contemporary development of the right of the public discourse. Participation of today's entertainment culture help cultivate public intention to participate in public affairs in an orderly manner, enhance the public's sense of democracy. Now, entertainment is becoming an unavoidable trend of the society, so, in order to achieve the in-depth development of the right of the public discourse, we need to start from the entertainment news, from the general public's participating in recreational activities then gradually expand to a wider, more serious, more in-depth and levels of services, and at last to truly realize the use and influence of the public discourse's power.
