In recent years, with the development of computer simulation and visualization technology, 3D visualization modeling technology has become mature, while the drawbacks of resource evaluation & management, as well as mining design and research based on the traditional 2D drawings, have been gradually exposed: such as poor accuracy, low credibility, unclear spatial relationships, long design peroids, few research plans, low research levels and low efficiency. The application of software based on 3D visualization technology, such as MicroMine, has provided a quick and powerful tool, and intelligence support for mining enterprises in production management and decision-making such as resource precise evaluation & management, real 3D mining design, program optimization and quick comparative study for multiple mining programs.In this paper, based on the familiarity and systematic analysis with the essential principles and main functions of MicroMine mining software, we have studied the specific implementation methods and steps in MicroMine in such aspects as constructing geological model group, mineral resources evaluation & management, mining design & optimization as well as mining project feasibility study. In addition, as a research tool and platform, the feasibility and practicality of MicroMine software have also been systematically described. The main research work done and the results are as follows:1. The methods and steps for constructing geological model group with the application of MicroMine have been concluded in detail.2. The basic principles, methods and procedures in mineral resources assessment & management with the application of MicroMine have been summarized.3. The methods for resources and reserves classification has been systematically studied, thus a set of parameters needed in resources and reserves classification in MicroMine and also its relationship with traditional classification standards have been proposed.4. Methods relating to open and underground 3D mining design with the application of MicroMine have been summed up, and specific ideas and steps to realize precise 3D design have been put forward.5. A thorough study on the feasibility and methods relating to project feasibility study with the application of MicroMine has been made, and specific practices and procedures have been brought forward.
