As Chinese urbanization's rapid development, the increasing complexity of city pipeline system, the water, electricity, gas, oil, etc. for the people living and production is becoming increasingly important. Of these resources pipeline management and monitoring of the Network has become the priority of urban management.At present, the majority of our water plant, power sector, gas supply units, monitoring technology is falling behind, especially the pipeline network management. Many of them still using periodical manual inspection. Not only the high operating costs, but it is very difficult to adapt to the needs of modern management.In this paper, a GPRS-based remote network monitoring system is developed. The system make GPRS network as a platform for long-distance signal transmission, combined with geographic information systems technology, remote monitoring and control network. Monitoring system solves the problem of wireless communication and has better reliability and real-time.At first the article analyzes the status of GPRS technology development, and make a detailed description of the system design and functions, on which basis the paper in-depth analysis and research the system structure and implementation programs.Then the software system designs are discussed in detail. The software systems use the Object Oriented design method, and use many of sophisticated design patterns.The system is rich of feature, simple to operation, convenient on installation and maintenance, and easy to expansion and upgrades.
