Along with the mobile communication rapid development, the traditional 2"d Generation communication system has not been able to meet people's request gradually because of the primary services of the voice and the low-speed data, but the emerging data and the multimedia service, such as Email, video transmission, document downloading and so on, will become the indispensableservice composition in the mobile communication. Therefore, each large mobile communication operator ispositively deploying the third generation mobile communication system for the arrivalof the 3G time. The mainstream 3G standards have three kinds of service systems, namely CDMA2000 WCDMA and TD-SCDMA. Among these, TD-SCDMA is proposed by our country, and has the independent intellectual property rights, thus it is been paidmore attention by the government; CDMA2000 proposed by America is compatible fornarrowband CDMA network of nowadays; while WCDMA proposed by Europe is designed for realizing compatibility with the GSM network and smoothly transiting from GSM to the 3G system. The mobile operators expect that 3G will realize the compatibility with the existing system and smooth transition for saving their investment. Therefore, WCDMA is the competitive candidate plan for our country.Study in the WCDMA system is a complex task and involves widespread domain. In this thesis, Firstly we introduce the basic concepts, main parameters and wireless network structure of WCDMA, and present the WCDMA network planning ideas. After a detailed explanation of the technical features and the key technologies of the WCDMA network, Next, we describe the planning procedure , network deployment scheme in detail. The WCDMA radio network plan are studied and suggested from coverage and capacity two aspects. The link budget, transmission model and the system capacity computational method in use of design are provided. Then, the WCDMA- system wireless network plan in Zhengzhou city is carried on, and the Monte-Carlo simulation is used to produce the simulation effect charts about the designed radio network. Finally, we give the summary and discuss the trend for future research work.
