The Analysis And Improvement Of Internet Multicast Group Management Protocol

With the development of Internet,IP multicast technology has become more and more important.Because of its effectiveness in network bandwidth utilization, IP multicast technology has rapidly gained its importance. MLDv2 are multicast group management protocols under IPv6.But due to their complicated logic structures,it's too hard for implemention,and some of them are useless too.So,we need simplify it.Huawei Corporation proposes a simplified version of IGMPv3/MLDv2,called LW-IGMPv3/MLDv2.Besides,because it lack AAA mechanism,it is not widely used in business.The main content of this thesis is to analyze the shortages of multicast group management protocol and propose a solution.Firstly, the thesis introduces the background of multicast technology.The characteristics and differences of each version of MLD are also discussed.By analyzing the architecture of IP multicast,the importance of MLD is described.Secondly,the thesis analyzes the shortage of multicast group management protocol and solution.There are two shortages:the lack of AAA mechanism and the complicated logic structures.The thesis propose the solutions to deal with the shortages.Then the thesis analyzes the implement of the solutions,including the selection of the platform.Followed with the thorough tests,including protocol level test and application level test.Finally,the lacking of this thesis and the direction of future research are pointed out.The major work of the writer during graduate period is summarized.
