With the emergence of a large number of Web Services, how to make the machine do service discovery, match, and composition automatically, accurately, and efficiently is the hotspot in the study on Web Services. WSDL, based on the XML format is the existing describing standard of Web Services. However, WSDL whose emphasis is describing the interfaces of Web Services in detail lacks semantic information of Web Services. As a result, service discovery and composition can only be done in UDDI based on keywords matching. This makes the accuracy and comprehensiveness become very low. Therefore, the semantization of WSDL is the foundation of service discovery, match and composition. On the basis of the current existing research results, this paper puts forward an OWL-S based method of Web Services semantic annotation, which makes use of the domain ontology to add semantic information for Web Services. Firstly, the implicit semantic information existed in WSDL is extracted according to the similarities between the WSDL and the domain ontology. Then, the extracted semantic information is annotated by the most suitable ontology concept using the name similarities and structural similarities between the WSDL concept and ontology entity. Lastly, the semantic description of Web Services is generated in the OWL-S format according to the principles that change the WSDL to OWL-S.Compared with other annotation approaches, the method proposed in the paper has the following characteristics: firstly, the most-related concepts are filtered out so as to reduce the computational work, which can make the semantic annotation of Web Services become more efficiently; secondly, the method integrates many different string similarity algorithms to improve the accuracy of the name similarity algorithm; thirdly, setting different weights to different sub-concepts that the concept has in order to raise the accuracy of the structural similarity algorithm; lastly, the principles that change the WSDL to OWL-S are defined in the paper, which can generate the semantic description of Web Services in the OWL-S format. In conclusion, the research result is of certain practical significance to the promotion the semantic annotation of Web Services.
