The industrial control network is the key for effectively constructing automaticproduction line in the field of manufacturing automation. The newly proposedindustrial control network which combines the embedded technology with Ethernettechnology is mostly designed on Client/Server architecture. Such kind of networkimproves the device access efficiency for manager in the time and space. However,when the network structure is changing, the network will bring the complicatedconfiguration task. Besides the current device description files have the weakness insome aspects including readability, customization and describing the complexconfigurations of device. So, how to implement interconnection conveniently andintelligently and better team working between the devices is the key to constructautomatic production line.In view of the fact that the industrial control network based on the embeddedWeb has some problems, and how to construct the prototype system of industrialcontrol network based on DPWS(Device Profile for Web Services), some researchwas done as follow in this paper. Firstly, a kind of concept of industrial controlnetwork based on the DPWS and its network topology, composition and benefit iselaborated. The protocol and implementation mechanism of DPWS are discussed, andsome other middleware technology are compared and analyzed. Secondly, thedemands that devices of the industrial control network based on DPWS should meetare analyzed expressly. The device's functions are abstracted into services andreclassified through Web Services. The device model is proposed, and the wholearchitecture is designed. The implementation mechanism and feature of servicemanagement module, service discovery module, event processing mechanism andservice access interface in this device model are analyzed. Thirdly, on the basis ofthese researches, taking the device description technology of device interoperability asa breakthrough point, a method of the device description based on CIM(CommonInformation Model)/XML is put forward. The extended model of managedinformation objects in the device model is designed. This method can promote themanagement integration of devices and system application. Finally, the prototype system of the industrial control network based on the DPWS are simulated andconstructed. The experiment environment and workflow of this system are discussed.Then, the system is programmed and implemented, which includes five functions,such as device discovery, device description parsing, device control, device event andgraphical user interface. The feasibility of this system is demonstrated.Some targets are achieved through the constructing of prototype system of theindustrial control network based on the DPWS, such as Plug and Play, simplerconfiguration, more extensibility of devices. The efficiency is improved and cost isreduced by developing device description file. The needs of industrial control networkare satisfied betterly, and the serviceability of devices is improved.
