Digital family in the future will found the network. It's goal is making all the information devices can implement intellectual interconnecting. It will take a digital revolution to our live.With the universalization of the digital devices and network,digital family technique is becoming the main-stream of modern digital technique. The UPnP is the most up-and-coming one of the modern digital family technique. It gets sweeping supporting. It is the hot spot of research. UPnP is the abbreviation of Universal Plug and Play. It mostly used for implementing intellectual interconneceing betueen devices. Because using UPnP protocals needn't device driving programs, so that the network building based UPnP is nothing to media. It can run over almost all operating systems. It can be exploited with a kind of programing language like C,C++,JAVA,VB and so on. UPnP will make it easy to build the network environment for devices interconnecting in the office or home.This paper studies the working principle and basic concept of UPnP. It not only includes some basic protocals like TCP/IP,HTTP,SSDP,SOAP,GENA, but also includes the realization of these protocols. Finally, base on existing UPnP technical norms, this paper makes a UPnP-AV media player system. In this system, we simulate UPnP device with two PC and redact program with VB. This systen can implement all the processes of a UPnP device.These processes include Device Addressing, Device Discovery, Device Description, Device Control .This paper also studies the UPnP-AV system's safety. This paper makes the good basis for technical application.The study of this paper assumes important significance to application of modern digital family technique which based on UPnP.
