As seabed is the storehouse of various resources, it is of great significance to speed up the exploration and utilization of seabed mineral resources. Seabed mineral resources exploration requires advanced equipments and technologies. The situ X-ray fluorescence analysis technology in the seabed, which can not only speed up prospecting and exploration of resources, but also can greatly reduce costs, is one of high technologies needed urgently nowadays in the country.This paper derived from the subject of the marine areas"in-Situ X-ray probe analysis system in ocean sediments"(2006AA09Z219)in "863 Program". Its purpose is to solve parameters setting of the digital probe, automatic background correction, data processing and interpretation in the seabed measurement.This paper is divided into two parts, software and hardware.For the software part, Virtual Instrument Software is designed to be used in in-Situ X-ray probe analysis system in ocean sediments, so that it can carry out remote control, data acquisition and analysis of the seabed material to achieve the multi-element analysis in situ. While, the Hardware part is a digital control module developed to meet the need of the system for remote monitoring and control.In this paper, the software is designed upon demand analysis with the top-down modular design concept. The software program which adopts the multi-threading technology, can achieve user interface response, measurement control and data processing at the same time, fully utilizing the system resources and improving the response speed. The software testing plan applies bottom-up modular and a combination of a variety of testing technologies to ensure software performance and reliability.The achievements and innovation of papers are as follows: 1. Based on the Labwindows/CVI, utility X-ray probe analysis software with independent intellectual property rights has been developed. The virtual instrument technology in the X-ray fluorescence analysis field is used. That will help to break the monopoly of foreign technology, and contribute to the nationalization and practical use of in-Situ X-ray probe analysis software in ocean sediments.2. Digital control module of the whole system has been developed; precision real-time control EDiX-Ⅲtype of X-ray tube operating parameters, spectrometer system magnification have been achieved. These could create favorable conditions for the realization of automatic spectrum stabilization and miniaturization instruments.3. Research findings have been transplanted to indoor XRF analyzer, and applied in the determination of coal of Chongqing Nantong Coal Mine and the grade analysis of copper nickel ore in Xinjiang kalatongke, which has achieved good results and great economic benefits.4. Compared with similar XRF analysis software, the software discussed in the paper is characterized by the following achievements:1) Automatic and semi-automatic qualitative analysis has been completed.2) The multi-parameter calibration model and data processing can be set up dynamically.3) Real-time digital automatic spectrum stabilization, steady precision is±1 spectral Road has been achieved.4) DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) technology has been used for real-time dynamic data storage.5) Two methods of energy calibration---manual and automatic---are available in the system.Informationization, intelligentization, automatization are development trend of instruments in the future. Through the virtual instrument software can automatically measure a wide range of elements, and optional stimulate sources so as to enhance the technological level and intelligentization of XRF analytical instruments, promote the EDXRF technology and as a result provide a better platform for the application of XRF analysis. The software discussed in the paper is of great versatility and practicability, which can be applied to gamma spectroscopy system,α-ray spectrometry system, and other spectroscopy measurements.
