| With the rapid growth in the network technology, the scope of applications on network is becoming larger and larger, and its structure is becoming more and more complex. All these changes have made our knowledge about the characteristics and the inherent nature of network less and less, they also have brought a series of difficulties to the management and analysis of network. The network traffic measurement technology, as a part of network management, provides a way to probe into the network characteristics in a real situation, which has great significance in the aspects of performance analysis, anomaly monitoring, state monitoring, or capacity planning and so on.This thesis carefully explains and elaborately analyses the network measure technologies, compares some monitoring tools and technologies in common use, focuses on the web-based management system(WBM) and RRDtool data storage technology, then designs the data collection method, architecture, and data storage mode that used by this system. Based on these things, a real time system for network traffic measurement that based on the proxy WBM structure is proposed. The system has been running in the computer college, which proved that it can achieve the scheduled target and manage Medium and Small network systems.This paper makes the following main contributions: In the Linux system, it is developed with the help of tools such as Apache,PHP,MySQL,RRDtool; With the adoption of structure based on proxy WBM, the system is suitable for the monitoring of device supported SNMP and also has a simple user interface which prevents the users from the complex function RRD; Furthermore, with the adoption of RRDtool storage system and the data collection method that uses Multi-threading technology, this system achieves high data collection performance; Last, with the a rich set of functions for user management, this system can customize different functions or features to meet all kinds of users' need. |
