Along with the computer and communication technology's rapid development, the scope of network applications are more and more wide, and functions are becoming more complicated, therefore also to network management bring greater challenges.Simple network management protocol(SNMP)as current TCP/IP network are widely used in the network management and monitoring network management agreement prevails。It has passed through several stages:in May 1990 year,RFC 1157 defined the first version of SNMP is SNMPv1.In 1993 year, it is SNMPv2 released. In 1996 year it is SNMPv2c released Which is SNMPv2 modified version. In January 1998,IETF SNMPv3 work group put forward internet suggestion RFC 2271-2275,these had led to SNMPv3.This series of document defined system framework which including all function in SNMPv1,SNMPv2 version and new security mechanism which including the validation service and encryption service, besides, also provided a set of special network security and access control rules,it also marked the SNMP maturity and perfection. This thesis introduces network traffic monitoring system based on SNMP in national data processing system which is verification, the selection of Data-Mining-Method and data display processing, and the integral design of the software. And then introduced three constructions:data collection layer, data store layer and business application layer.Data collection layer -terminal monitoring software achieves network monitoring system based on SNMP.It is able to fetch monitoring data which is from network line, data flow and network equipment. After collecting data, the system stores data into data store layer-Oracle database.Data store layer store data and do reprocessing of monitoring data based on the application of database programming.
