The Roaming System Of Ancient Buildings Based On VRML

Virtual Reality(Virtual Reality)technology is an arisen integrated information technology in 1990s,and it has broad application prospects. This paper is completed from roaming system of ancient buildings based on vrml which is a subproject of Protection and Restoration of Ancient Buildings. The target of the system is to exhibit ancient buildings collections on line. It provides a platform for the users who are interesting in the culture of ancient buildings. They can show their collections and query knowledge on line. There are three partment of the technology,J2EE for the network, vrml for the virtual reality and rules engine for the roaming. We use java as our main language and sqlserver2000 for database. The researches inelude:1. Ancient buildings are complicated and changeable. We use geometric modeling and texture mapping technologies for the realistic of models of ancient buildings. Fortunately, we get a good result.2. In the three-dimensional scene,all the name of the ancient buildings are named by system users,and they can show their collections here. All of these that we are used to provide a platform for the users.3. Roaming of the three-dimensional scene. We bring out the roaming of the three-dimensional scene to improve the experience of the ancient buildings in the three-dimensional scene. Vrml and java languages are usesd for the control of the objects in the scene. The axial-aligned bounding boxes algorithm and rules engine are also used for the query of the roaming way. Finally,we complete all of these ,then users can roaming in the scene and visit all. the buildings and collections comfortably.
