Some important information about crop growth status, insect pest, crop yield and agricultural product quality are included in crop leaves colors. By analyzing the theory of color detection technique in this article, a scheme of sampling and judging the crop leaves colors information is proposed, which realizes the nice hold about the plant growth status and insect pest and provides technical basis and support for precise fertilizer and irrigation.By carrying out a system analysis for color detection technique theory and currently main color detection instrument, the whole design based on RGB color sensor plant color detection system is proposed. During the process of system building, through analyzing and studying the lighting system on theory and design requirements, combining the lighting character of white LED, which is selected as the auxiliary light source and designed in the layout form through synthesized consideration. According to the design requirements of detection system, by analyzing the current color detection component, a color detection system based on MTCSiCT-TO39 color sensor is built, these components of every part including photo-electricity detection, single-chip system and communication interface are selected,the signal error is also analyzed combining the character of color detection signal. On the basis of hardware system built, according to the whole function to be realized, the author adopts the data communication between single-chip and PC, and makes the software of the corresponding data processing, achieves the intention of reading data and judging immediately. Finally, applying the color detection system built in the front, color detection experiments are carried out for plant leaves under the different detection condition, and the system validity and sensitivity are analyzed. A detection experiment is done on the different color detection example using the color detection system built, the data processing result shows:(1) In the dark room without lens, under the condition of 15 mm distance, for the green in different depth change, the color quality of the stimulated value change light with the example color depth, the change tendency is obvious and it takes on a linear rule going up, which shows that the color detection system built has a good identification character for the same color in different depth.(2) In the dark room with lens, under the condition of 20 mm distance far from leaves, the detection experiment on different color of white paper, black paper, soil, lettuces and clover leaf is done, and the result shows that there is an obvious difference on the three stimulated value of RGB, the standard error is small, that is under the condition the system can detect the different color object.(3) In the dark room with lens, under the condition of 5 mm distance, from the three stimulated mean value of different example it can be seen that the color detection system may differentiate the leaves from different color exactly.(4)The color detection device based on color sensor can detect exactly the leaves color information under the condition of the auxiliary light source and natural light, transmission and reflection, some distance condition. This provides a technical support for collecting the plant leaves color information, but the system built yet has a need on improve the detection precise and widen the applying scope.
