In recent ten years, as a result of the rapid development of medical enterprise and the increase of people's pursue to the medical effect, the restoration and reconstruction surgery is formed and developing rapidly. Skull's restoration and reconstruction takes its important part, which is one of the earliest developed field of the restoration and reconstruction surgery.Because its structure is complex, the repairing of skull has always been one of the most defiant task repairs of the restoration and reconstruction surgery. Routine treatment is manual trimming Titanium alloy net according to the size and the shape of the patient damage spot. This operation is complex, the time of surgery is long, the effect of the surgery is decided by doctor's experience and technique, and the appearance is not satisfied people's desires. Meanwhile, Titanium alloy mesh is easy to appear wrinkle and warp in moulding, which causes the surgery defeat. Therefore, numbers of clinical scientists are seeking for a method which is able to enhance the quality and efficiency of the repairing.In this paper a skull-restoration is designed before surgery taking 3D Titanium alloy plate as a roughcast based on 3D image reconstruction technology, the computer-aided design technology and the advanced manufacturing technology, which get good shape, fit well and few postoperative complication. The concrete method is as follows:Firstly, with the reverse engineering,a 3-D model of a damaged skull is reconstructed based on the patient's forehead CT data; Two designing methods is proposed, and 3D surface restoration of a model of a damaged skull is designed; And the virtual assembly of the damaged skull and the restoration and curvature testing is completed, which shows well fitted; The strength analysis of the titanium restoration under different working conditions and strength comparison of the titanium restoration and the skull are carried on using the finite element method, the result shows that it has enough mechanical strength. Finally virtual machining of the restoration is carried on, and the numerical control processing of a aluminum alloy restoration is completed, by which the accurate design of the restoration is test truly, at the same time, the feasibility of the numerical control processing of the restoration is proved.The skull- restoration is designed before surgery by CAD technology, accurate and high efficiency, which dose not only fit well, get good shape, but also may reduce the time,the risk and the pain of the surgery greatly. Meanwhile, the integration of digital design and manufacturing may realize, and the truly personalized skull- repairing may also realize.
