Knowledge has become the maple economy in the 21st century,and automotive industry wiil face new condition.The product development is the kernel of automotive technology.To adapt new changes,governments and industry come up with various advanced product development technology,and reverse engineering is paid more attention to by every countries.Reverse engineering design technology is one of important design ways in modern design.It is greatly valued to improve the level of our country's car product design and strengthen the competitive of our car product in international markets.With the quick development of computer and information technology,its applications become more and more important.The Automotive body design has crossed the stage of manual drafting,and entered the era of 3D geometric modeling. Because of the pervasive application of CAD skills,it brings more and more requests to the quality of automotive body surface model.Comparing with the high technologies of the overseas,it needs great improvement for domestic automotive development technology.We just begin to design all-digital automotive body models, and to study many new applications.For some unfamiliar high techniques,we need more time to recognize and research them,such as surface fairing technique, computer-based evaluation technique,rapid prototype process of automotive body model,etc.The purpose of this paper is scan dot clouds of car body and reconstruct,test,modify digital model,and looks for a effective and simple reverse engineering design technology.According to domestic and oversea surface smoothness theoretical algorithm,combined with advantages and disadvantages of reverse engineering software and maple forward engineering software,it looks for reasonable combination and good data process method to process dot clouds and establish digital model of car body.Particular course is to process dot clouds of car body scaned in first period with professional reverse engineering software,then reconstruct the digital model of car body with maple forward engineering software.It discusses the continuity of car body surface,and analyses,sum up present surface smoothness algorithm.It introduces and analyses test and evaluate method after surface is reconstructed and reverse engineering equipments,software and application method and process technique.Combined with application character of reverse engineering,utilizing computer technology,I built a practical concurrent designing platform,accelerating the process of automobile designing.
