With economic development and living standards improvement, people set a higher request to tractor modeling. At the same time, tractor modeling need to be innovated constantly to form diverse types and different styles of products. It has an important practical significance that tractor modeling methods are researched,that products meeting the needs of market are designed based on using reverse engineering technology.On the basis of analyzing traditional design flow and design flow based on reverse engineering of tractor modeling, this paper discusses design process of tractor modeling and CAD modeling architecture of tractor modeling based on reverse engineering. It is reasearched on key technologies such as data acquisition, data preprocessing, surface reconstruction, surface smoothing and smoothness analysis in reverse design process combined with tractor modeling own characteristics and design requirements. And then, data acquisition scheme of tractor plastocene model and flow and strategy of data preprocessing on point cloud are made. The mathematical method of curves and surfaces of tractor modeling based on NURBS is elaborated. Data preprocessing, surface reconstruction, surface smoothness analysis of the wheel hood of tractor are achieved in CATIA V5 software platform. By application of reverse engineering technology, tractor modeling CAD model with high quality can be reconstructed quickly to make rapid development of tractor modeling come into practice. Tractor modeling method based on reverse engineering is put forward, it opens a new way for our country's tractor modeling design.
