In the process of Reverse Engineering and Rapid Prototyping, there are a lot of things to be considered. It includes the data measurement, data processing, surface construct of Reverse Engineering and principal, type, character, application of Rapid Prototyping and the integrate of RE & RP.This paper analysed and discussed mostly the key techniques of RE. after summarized today's status of RE's technology, analysed some measure method of RE, and emphased introduce the data gathering and it's theory of points data that is gained through 3D numeral digital taking pictures, and had some analyses of improve measure precision. Furthermore, the paper also researched some pivotal technology, for example, data rapid gaining, large-dense data disposing of solid model and base pro/e software on 3D solid model design, and it afforded instrumentality and method for data disposing and product's design. After researched the RE based Pro/E software, through Reverse design to representative product, explored the whole process about product reverse design, and analysed the emphases and difficulty of reverse design, brought forward method and process using RE and RP to design product.For study the key techniques of RE based Pro/E software, The principal research work and conclusions are listed as follows:1.Analyzing and comparing some method of measure, mainly analyzing and introducing the principle and quomodo about data collection, and analyzing some method of enhancing measure precision.2. By researching the scattered "points cloud" data structure and composing, predigesting, classifying and filtrating the scattered "points cloud", and building the topological relation of the scattered data.3. Developing "points cloud" data optimum processing module by Visual C++ and Pro/toolkit, which provides good information for accurate modeling and high modeling efficiency.4. Finishing surface reconstruction and building solid modeling based Pro/E modeling software through the "points cloud" data, and achieving 3D building modeling based surface.5.Because gaining different data format by different measure device, for the data format can be accepted by Pro/E software, building a program for transform between different data.
