Study On Crime News And Its Social Effect Of Communication

Government's control on news media changes with the further development of market economy and democracy. The environment of consensus is less tight, the competition of journalism is getting more severe, there are more and more news concerning crimes in the report. On one hand, crime news, as part of news consensus, plays the role to promote justice and fair in the society. On the other hand, the report of crime, especially misreporting, would do harm to the benefits of people concerned. Because of the uncertainty of TV transmit, news on crime may arouse negative effect in the public. So it will be of great importance to study the transmit method and effect of crime news.According to present reports, the disadvantages of crime news transmission are as follows: 1. it invades the intimity, reputation and other privacy of people concerned.2. it spreads the skills of committing crime which brings indirect harm to the society.3. the judgment and misreporting of news report interferes the judgment of the court.4. public would imitate the report on unhealthy tendency. The above mentioned are some of the direct effects, as for the indirect ones, the scholars have already noticed. However, it is more difficult to determine the indirect effects. The system of news media is a sub-system to the society system. Once the object of news deviates the object of society, the harm would be unmeasurable.This paper, taking newspaper as a sample, analyses the status quo of crime news report. Together with the effect on the society, the author analyses the relationship between crime news report and social economy, politics and culture. At last, methods to improve the crime news report are put forward.
