Analysis On Construction Of Press Council In China

The tendency of media in china appears to be on the rise recently. On the one hand, media plays an important role to promote the politics, economy and culture. on the other hand, lots of negative problems also promote themselves. For example, the increasing number of press disputes, the loss of professional ethics and the decrease of media credibility. How to conduct an effective supervision over media becomes one of the heated problems. How to establish and improve public supervision mechanism over media ,strengthen media self-regulation is that we should consider.In foreign countries, the century-long press councils, which are media self-regulatory organizations ? provide us with inspiration. As the media self-regulation and arbitration agencies, in dealing with press disputes and strengthening media self-discipline we should learn from the results. This paper, analyses the experience of press council in foreign countries, especially the operating mechanism of the Press Complaints Commission in Britain, conducts the feasibility study of the establishment of China's Press Council, along with the analysis on the success and shortcomings of Beijing Internet Information Council .On this basis ,to design a complete blueprint for building press council in China. Meanwhile, a further analysis on the potential problems we may come across during the Sustainable development is also exposed.
