The alumina evaporation process is a process with high energy consumption, and it costs about 40%- 50% of the total energy in alumina production. In order to analysis and optimize the steam consumption and distribution in a convenient way, to study the alumina evaporation process by computer simulation technology is a good choice. To find the key factors which influence the alumina production is very important to the process improvement and the optimal control as well as increasing production efficiency and saving energy.The function requirement of the alumina evaporation process simulation system is analyzed and the static structure and dynamic behavior of each use case which composes the running frame are made by the UML modeling tool; the whole frame and each unit component of the simulation system are designed according to the thermodynamics and matter conservation law as well as the ports definition of each unit component; for models in each evaporation unit share the same characters which consists of the same bocks, the subflowsheet is introduced to manage the blocks and the related variables which simplifies the whole flowsheet and improves the solution efficiency; the Lee-Rudd cycle decomposition method is adopted to find the optimal tear streams which ensure the calculation's steady and quick convergence; the main classes of the system are designed particularly; the databases of property and results are designed and the stored procedure is used to solve the high frequency access of database which improves the accessing efficiency and maintainability; according to the analysis and design of the system, some of the functions are realized, and the simulation results prove the practicability of the alumina evaporation process simulation system. The design adopts component based method which improves the reusability and expansibility of the alumina evaporation process simulation system.
