The producing method in Nanchuan Xianfeng Alumina Manufactory is Combined Mode, including 3 workshop sections, dissolving, evaporating and sintering. The DCS system is used to production process management and automation control for the whole production process, which is exploited in Yamatake's CPA System and Honeywell's HC900 DCS Controller. There are 467 I/O points in whole system. The system is included as follows: ①Statisticing for I/O points; ②Connecter designing; ③The DCS designing with HC 900; ④The parameters'database designing; ⑤The HMI designing with CPA; ⑥Field debugging. In Combined Mode, the sintering is the point. The quality of the alumina is depended on it, at the same time, which has the important effect on saving power. The operation of kiln is distributed in the chamber at the head of kiln and is carried out by workers manually through observing the fire hole and the combustion in kiln and watching instruments. "over-sintered"or "escaped yellow material"in sintered process often occurs, makes raw material loss, effects the succeeding process of alumina production and limits the alumina production amount, owing to high labor intensity of operators, workshop management scattering and lower quality of personnel. Therefore, it is important economic valuable and present significant to research and develop controlling technology of sintering kiln, to change ways of production of sintering kiln, and improve quality and efficiency of sintered raw. Comparing the different control scheme in sintering section, we adopted selftuning PID control and integrated the experience of operators in control strategy. At present, the dissolving section and evaporating section have completed field debugging. The sintering section is built up. The debugging proved: the production process can be display dynamic; the whole signal can be detected in time; the parameters of controlled devices can be set up remotely; the history data can be showed in curve; it has the function of alert and print. After the system completed, the yields of manufactory will raise from 70,000 ton to 150,000 ton.
