This thesis is based on three hotspot technologies: Symbian OS, Ad Hoc network, streaming media technology. Symbian OS is a smart phone operating system, which has the highest market share; Ad Hoc network is a unique cordless net with features as no-centre, self-mechanism and dynamic topology; streaming media technology emerges as the times require with the high speed development of Internet and multimedia. On the basis of introducing the development, problems and respective technical core of the three fields above, the paper proposes a real-time streaming media sharing system based on mobile Ad Hoc network in symbian OS, and describes the design and implementation of the system in detail. This article firstly introduces the background and research significance of the project. Secondly, the current situation of development of the key technologies, such as the Symbian OS, WiFi technology, Ad Hoc network and streaming media, is shown. And then the layered design structure of the system and MVC design pattern are shown in chapter three. Afterwards, each functional component of the system, such as Sharing Engine, StreamMedia Engine, AdHoc Engine and WiFi Engine etc, is introduced. In the end, the test platform of this system's performance and the prospect of research are shown. The experimental result, which is given based on a test network and Nokia phones, proves that the system has a good effect in pratical use.
