Design And Development Of M2M Operation Support Platform Based On Mobile Telecommunication Network

With the rapid development of mobile data communication network, mobile data services are becoming the main revenue sources for mobile carriers. M2M (Machine to Machine) applications based on mobile data communication network are becoming primary mobile data services.But the existing mobile data network can only be a pipe for these services without meeting the target to provide end to end integration level. So carriers can not support M2M applications better. The service mode of providing data channel to M2M applications can not fulfill the requirements of that M2M applications grow quickly, and it appears disadvantageous for China Mobile as a mobile information expert. The major problems are listed as followings:1. The M2M application integrators will only buy data SIM and China Mobile can only provide data channel for them as a mobile carrier. China Mobile competes with competitors through price wars without any other methods to provide different services to its customers.2. The M2M application integrators need to provide end to end solutions although they aren't very familiar with China Mobile's communication network. Under such a circumstance, China Mobile can not provide any helps to integrate end to end applications with a total solution。3. There are many kinds of M2M terminals exist. It will bring potential adventures to mobile communication network while developing domain applications based on these terminals withdifferent quality.4. It is very difficult to provide end to end management andservice support without an effective operating and supportingsystem. So M2M application can not grow in a large scale.China Mobile must provide a whole solution to M2M application through service integration. The M2M operating and supporting platform is such a solution to help China Mobile to solve the problems above. The M2M operating and supporting platform can provide M2M terminal configuration and management to M2M applications. It can reduce development difficulties for M2M applications based on mobile data communication network and propel the advancement of a large number of M2M applications.M2M Operation Support Platform can be a system which provides terminal configuration, terminal management and other services to M2M applications. It can reduce the difficulties to develop M2M applications based on mobile data network and advance M2M applications rapidly.This paper discusses the work which author has been done for M2M Operation Support System. It includes four main parts to illustrate the work.1. Mobile data communication and data servicesThis paper introduces the present status of mobile data communication simply and describes the advent development trend of it. At the same time, it presents the status of mobile data communication and data services in China.2. The requirement analysis for M2M Operation Support SystemAfter explaining M2M application status and illustratingdifficulties which exist in M2M applications, it illuminates the necessities for building a M2M Operation Support System and enumerates the great values to build it for CMCC. It defines the requirements of M2M Operation Support System and analyzes the basic requirements for M2M system.3. WMMP protocol and key message flows It introduces the WMMP protocol which is used between M2M Operation Support System and M2M terminals while they communicate with each other. The key message flows of WMMP protocol are also explained.4. System analysis and design for M2M Operation Support SystemAccording to the user requirements of M2M Operation Support System, it analyzes and designs the M2M Operation Support System.
