With the development of the 3G network technology and the existing high efficiency video compression technology(MPEG-4, H.264 and AVS, etc.), it becames possible that the original bandwidth-constrained wireless streaming media applications.Wireless interactive streaming media system is an interactive streaming media downloading system in the wireless environment. With combining video compression technology, video abstract technology and streaming media downloading technology, it firstly extracts the abstract information of the video, then provides the information as the preview for the users to select, permits users downloading the interested video clips according to users' selection, and greatly improves the efficiency of downloading.In this thesis, the client subsystem in wireless interactive streaming media system is presented, it realizes the gain of the media list information, the browsing of video abstract information, the real-time playing of the video clips and many other functions, and it provides users with new experience of touch screen.Firstly, wireless interactive streaming media system related technologies are introduced, including streaming media technology, video abstract and video compression technologies, etc; secondly, the total solution of the wireless interactive streaming media system based on existing technologies is proposed; thirdly, the client subsystem in the total solution is presented, it describes the hardware & software environment and analyses the circuit of the client.The focus of this thesis is to discuss the design and implementation of the interactive streaming media download terminal on the maemo platform. In the thesis, it introduces the building of maemo platform environment, program development and packaging. It divides the client subsystem into serveral modules, such as GUI module, player module and cache module, etc. And then, the interfaces and implementation methods of the modules is described detailly, the interaction is illustrated. Finally, through analyzing the result of the system test, the functions of the system is validated, and it is proven that the system's function and performance meet the design requirements.In the end, we give the summary of the whole thesis, describe the current shortcomings of the client subsystem and future work and summary the work and research progress during master-degree study.
