This research is carried out by the project of"R&D of intelligent measurement system for mechanical rice harvester", which is the sub-project of the National High Technology Research and Development Program(863) of China"development and application of precision agriculture machinery and equipment technology", and supported by the mechanical and electrical research centre of Shanghai Jiao Tong University."Precision Agriculture"has been accepted all around the world as a kind of modern agriculture management system based on information. Its technical idea is analyzing the reason that makes the different yield in the farm by obtaining the yield information and all kinds of environmental factors that influence the crop's growth in the farm and combining the previous farming experience. Then with the support of certain decision-making,it could provide an effective scheme for farming management,finally puts up variable works by intelligent machines in the farm according to the guidance of recipe map. It can get the final goal that is reducing the production cost and pollution of environment,keeping the continuous development of the agriculture.Yield is an important aspect to any crop producer, as it influences a multitude of farming decisions, and it is used to evaluate the result of those decisions. Yield measurement system has become an important part of precision farming system. It tends to be the first stage in implementing PF. The project makes grain measurement such as wheat and rice based on the sub-project, and it realizes the real-time production measurement of grain directly and accurately. Moreover, it provides the reference of fertilizer, water and pesticides for variable operating machinery.The paper contains six parts. The first part mainly introduces the background of the project, the research information of domestic and overseas and the paper's research goal and meaning and so on. The second part introduces the system structure, which includes measurement principle and technology plan. The third part mainly researches the technology of impact-based sensor, which includes sensor configuration, size and strain place design. The fourth part carries out the algorithms research of sensor signal processing, which includes filtering, dynamic compensation, notch control and error analysis. The fifth part introduces the test-bed system and gave some experiment results. The last part of the paper summarizes the whole paper and gives some opinions for the next research work.The paper researches the impact-based sensor measurement and developed our own intellectual property rights'sensor, carried out some signal processing algorithm. The preliminary experiment shows that the basic design idea does works and it has met the requirements of pre-design.
