| From 1990s, with the rapid development of computer technology and network communication, great changes have been made to the ways of entertaining in our society. Digital game is one of the pop entertaining ways being created under this background. Because of its great commercial value, Game Industry calls much attention on technique research and investment. This paper is brought out to dig into the industrial background, scene art design and associated technologies of digital game, along with several improvements and creations upon the application of the methods used in game design.This paper is mainly focused on the in-depth interpretation, analysis and practice of 3D game scene design and the underlying technologies in digital games. Based on the in-depth analysis of game art design, the author established the game style in a RPG game which mixed the cartoon style and Chinese traditional feature. Related techniques utilized in designing the scene and some major modifications and improvements on those techniques were also clearly described in the article. The contents of this article are includes:(1) Analyzing and summarizing thoroughly the related contents of art design theory, the patterns and approaches of game scene design. Include analyzing the core conception, major principles and basic design elements in game design and summing up the characteristic, classification, design flow and assignment in game scene design.(2) Presenting a set of scene designing in a practical game designing projects. A game-scene style with the characteristics from cartoon and ancient Chinese cultures was established based on the sum-up of the concepts of game designing as well as patterns and approaches utilized in scene designing, also exhibited were the original game-scene designing graphic and the detail graphic.(3) Realizing the methods used in 3D game scene production, describing the technologies and processes in designing different objects of the scene with practical experiences, which includes the build of constructions, efficient methods used in realizing a natural environment, design of terrain and sky and etc. Consequently sum up the highly efficient approaches in realizing the crafts in game scene which balance the graphic effect and display speed, and put forward the experiences of skills in the process of the modeling.(4) Putting forward a set of approaches to improve the shadow map algorithm. Through summarizing and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of shadow map algorithm, some improvement of the algorithms for small scene and outdoor broad scene have been brought out separately for the purpose of a practical application. Our approaches efficiently improved the sampling of shadow map algorithm and solved the problem of shape losing of shadows, making it possible to generate a more real shadow in a specific scene using an altered shadow map algorithm. |
