Research And Design Of Network Management System For Broadband Multimedia Satellite Network

With the development of the network and the satellite-communication technology, the globalization of the information is proceeding steadily. The broadband multi-media satellite network is getting more and more attention as it can provide broadband, high-speed communication, multi-media functions and realize global non-seam coverage.Years of practice indicates that the network management plays an important role in the operation of the network. Compared with the ground network, the broadband multi-media satellite network is characterized by its huge scale and its complicated and various devices. Its unique dynamics, high-delay, heterogeneity and limitation in source make the usage of the satellite network management system more predominant. So we should consider the design of the satellite network management highly during the design and the implementation period of the broadband multi-media satellite network. On the basis of analysis to the broadband multi-media satellite network and the research on the application of the ATM technology in the net, this essay emphasizes on the research and the design of the broadband multi-media satellite network management system. It includes the model of the NMS and the design of the communication link; the communication style between the network management center and other compositions and the research on the protocols of the satellite network management; the design of the network management function modules and realizes the database functions of the broadband multi-media satellite network management system.The network management system is divided into two parts in the specific application of the protocols. The SMP protocol is applied between the satellite-based network management and the network control center to collect the data and execute the network control commands. The SNMP protocol is applied between the ground network management systems to exchange the information. Elaborately analyze the software structure of the network management system and the function division of the module, the relations between the module and the work process of the module.A SMIB is constructed for the multi-media satellite network management system according the function of the network management system and the needs of the application (including the existing management protocol stack and the interface demand) along with the existing definition standard to the MIB by the ground ATM network. The research on the subject provides effective technology and methods for the network management of the broadband multi-media satellite.
