This article presents one design method for radar data processing computer dual systems. It introduces design and development process as well as the actual implementation method for communication service unit which adopting microprocessor (PowerPC MPC885), DSP-TMS320F2812, programmable component (Cyclone), multi-regulation communication controller(Z85C30) to form embedded computer, serial/parallel interface intelligent control.The article begins with the necessity of dual systems redundancy of radar data processing computer, and briefly introduces redundancy methods of existing radar. It presents one method to realize radar dual system redundancy, and gives detailed introduction on application technology of communication service unit. The system design is divided into two parts, i.e. hardware design and software design. In hardware design illustration, system scheme, implementation modes and key circuit design are presented. The software design includes DSP-based firmware design and PowerPC-based firmware design. It mainly presents DSP-based firmware design method, describes DSP program design theory and architecture, and explains solutions for several key issues. It gives system engineering method that actually verified on specific 3D radar. In the end, it summarizes the features in radar application.
