The infrared radiation is the inherent characteristic of all objects, it has many excellent features which electromagnetic wave and visible light don't have, so the simulation technology of infrared features becomes one of the most important technical areas in the world. In recent years, with the development of infrared imaging technology, this technique has been used more and more in the military field. With the development of infrared guided technology, all kinds of parameters of infrared seeker should be tested during design and manufacture of the weapons in order to improve the performance of the weapons. This subject is to develop a intelligent infrared target system which can simulate infrared features of objects for such purposes. This paper presents the process of the overall design, the hardware and software design and production process of infrared target prototype.The research for the overall technology of infrared target system includes five parts: the introduction of application theory, the overall design of infrared target, the prototype hardware design, the prototype software design, experiment and the analysis of results. Intelligent infrared target system applies infrared features of objects and background and PID control algorithm as theoretical basis, utilizes matlab to calculate theoretical model, use FPGA as the core of control system, and adopts power-amplifier devices to drive peripheral circuit. Finally, the prototype of the infrared target system is present.
