| Coast of Fujian suffered the tragedy of war not long after the outbreak of Anti-Japanese War in 1937,and the capital of which was moved from Fuchow to Yong'an,a small city in the southeast of China.Lots of intellectuals with different educational background were attracted from all over the country,because the peace and relative open political environment of this small city.Almost 30 publishing houses had been found here:13 kinds of magnetizes,136 journals and more than 700 kinds of books had been published,which brought prosperity of culture of anti-Japanese in Southeast.During these publishing houses,influence of Improvement was considerable,and the journal of Improvement was worth our attention without doubt,which was established in April 1st 1939,and stopped in July 1946.Li liewen,a famous Left-Wing writer and former editor-in-chief of Shen paper—free talk,was the founder.Improvement was a comprehensive publication throughout the Anti-Japanese War,from which the effort of support for Anti-Japanese War and country-building could be revealed.Three different periods of Improvement are distinguished,based on three chief-editors:Li Liewen,Shen Lianzhi and Lin Tianlan,succession and variation are analyzed.It is hoped that through the study of this semi-official journal,the main body of which was composed by Left-Wing writers,to reveal the union of intellectuals formed by a modern journal.How the union to buildup common social space and network of relation,how to take part in the politics and country construction during the national crisis are described in this paper.Breakout of Anti-Japanese War made Chinese society turbulence,which also caused the character of fluxion of common space for intellectuals.It is also hoped the review of Improvement can prove the fluxion doesn't mean the separation of public opinion. With the same historical mission,multi-level public space was built up by intellectuals,relying on Improvement.Connection and echo between intellectuals became more frequently. |
