Radar application technology has been focused widely. This paper makes the research of radar application system, analyzes the marine radar's echo and other signals, and then, presents the design of one of most important functional unit of the system - radar echo data acquisition (DAQ) unit.Considered the characteristic of the marine radar echo and the requirement of DAQ, this paper presents a multi-signals acquisition method, based on interval sampling theory, adopts the exterior signal as the sampling trigger, and synchronously samples four channels signals from radar.In order to prove the basic design, this thesis introduces the design of DAQ platform, which is based on Windows OS and PXI bus hardware. On the premise of the signals' accuracy and synchronism, the signal interface module is adopted to match the radar signals to the input requirement of the DAQ card. Based on the Windows OS, the software is developed, which includes the function of sampling, real-time imaging, data saving and off-line analyzing of the acquired data. The subsequent shore-based experimentation shows the feasibility and the validity of the DAQ platform. The results of the experiment indicate that the platform's real-time character and reliability should be improved, so the new real-time DAQ platform based on VxWorks RTOS and CPCI technology is developed. Besides the functions of the foregoing platform, the new one realizes the net work ability.On the process of the platform's realization, the mess data saving problem has to be solved, so the lossless data compression has been researched. In contrast with the common compress arithmetic, LZW method is adopted. The result of the data file compression is satisfied. But the further research is needed.Relayed on the application system, this paper details the entire developing project of radar DAQ platform, and some of the key points. And the platform also can be used as an all-purpose DAQ platform in another similar radar data sampling system.
