Drive axle must have adequate rigidity, intensity and good dynamic characteristics as the important component of big horsepower tractor. In this paper, Hypermesh and ANSYS are used to proceed finite element analyses of housing, then by the rigidity experiment and fatigue experiment, the correctness of the analyses and design can be verified.Firstly, Pro/E is used to establish 3D model of axle housing, steering joint, half-axle, then Hypermesh is used to proceed the preprocessing of finite element analyses, finally, ANSYS is used to static force analysis, modal analysis and harmonic response analysis. The security of design is verified by the result of finite element analyses.The result of finite element analyses must be proofed by experiments. By the contrast of the result to rigidity experiment, the result of finite element analyses to axle housing is verified correct. Besides, the fatigue lifetime is answer to demands by fatigue experiment. In the meantime, some methods of improve design are brought up to lower stress value.Finally, UIDL and APDL languages are used to secondary development of ANSYS. The operator can finish finite element analyses in visible condition by edit main technology parameter in dialogue frame. It can decrease the repeat operate and improve work efficiency.
