Vehicle logistics is the core link of supplying chain of automotive enterprises. But the data collection for traditional vehicle logistics management which depend mostly on manual, paper-based and bar-coding operation result in the defects such as irregularity of data collection, inadequate visible management and information-poor logistics. As the representative of automatic identification and data collection technology, RFID has the characteristics of long-distance identification of moving objects, reading tags at same time, volume of data, high stability and adaptability. It can overcome the above inadequacy and attain real-time data collecting and processing of vehicle logistics.This pape made research on application of RFID in vehicle logistics process, based on summary of basic concepts, technical standards, and RFID data integration. The main work included as following:First, the present logistics management problems in automotive vehicle manufacturers were described comprehensively, such as lack of effective means of information collection, failure to maintain an even flow in production and marketing information, and isolated information resources. All these could not meet the increasing need of enterprise management.Second, according to the characteristics of automotive enterprises, the work flow of receiving, warehousing, outbound, stocktaking and transportation were studied and optimization program was given. Then the application of RFID in vehicle logistics management is investigated.Thirdly, referred to the case of three-tier system architecture, a RFID-based logistics management system framework was designed and realized. And real-time vehicle logistics management was initially established. This framework introduced Web-Services technology for future expansion and performance upgrades.Last, based on limiting factors of RFID application in automotive logistics, it was analyzed from aspects of close-loop application, communication safety and applicationfields. A prospect for the research direction of application of RFID was made.
