The method of generating numerical control milling codes based on the datum measured by industrial computed tomography is proposed in this paper. The method mainly faces reverse engineering which aims at profile modeling and the soft system is designed and developedFirst of all, the ICT slice image preprocess of which the goal is extracted the datum of contour boundary is studied. The dissertation adopts Canny algorithm to detect edge, and synthetically applies manual edit of BMP, contour tracking based on eight neighbor, the improved method of small gap filling and filtering based on rules to realize the preprocessing of edge gray imagesSecondly, change the contour points datum into NC codes. The Z-map model is constructed by constructing the C-structure,R-structure and extracting Z-map from contour points datum. Information concerning the intersecting points of each cutting slice and a certain row of mesh points is collected. Then distinguish cut areas and generate cutter paths within cut areas. Connect each cut area to generate the rough cut paths. Next, determine the total number of cut areas and extract the required Z-map. Use the Z-map model to establish the cutter-middle data for each row of mesh points,connect each cut area to generate the fine cut paths. Then transform the rough and fine cut paths into NC codes, and the codes are inputted to the manufacturing emulation software—Mastercam to emulate manufacturing.Finally, a soft system on the basis of the method presented in the paper is designed and developed. The method proposed in the paper needn't rebuilt a CAD model of a sample, which can enhance the efficiency. The ICT slicing images of cylinder are taken as examples. The codes that may be used for manufacturing, are acquired through image preprocess contour fitting and NC codes generation. And the codes transformed are inputted to the manufacturing emulation software—Mastercam to emulate manufacturing. The result of emulating verifies the feasibility of an approach proposed in this paper.
