With the explosive growth of Internet technology and application services, many disadvantages of traditional Internet network architecture come out gradually, such as the separation of identifier and locator of IP address which has already become a hot research topic. For improving supporting mobility of Internet, micro-mobility protocol becomes one of mainly research direction for high schools and telecommunication companies. Combining these two aspects, the subnet accessing based on separation and mapping scheme is appeared. It can solve network's routing scalability and mobility well.The work in this paper relies on the project of Universal trustworthy Network and pervasive Services, which is in National Basic Research Program (973 Program), it proposes that Universal Network which adopts separation and mapping scheme imports accessing subnet. The research on assessing subnet is creative, which bases on separation and mapping scheme, and it has the very important research significance.This paper researches the design and implementation of subnet accessing based on Universal Network, the research emphasis is routing scheme and terminal mobility management. Firstly, we analyze present Mobile IP and micro-mobility protocols and their characteristics. Secondly, we introduce the architecture of Universal Network and propose an appropriate architecture for subnet and routing schemes suitable for Universal Network, and design accessing process and mobility handoff process within subnet and between subnets. Thirdly, we introduce the implementation of subnet accessing scheme on network entities based on Linux, include terminal, Subnet Router and Access Switch Router. Then, we test functions and performance of the program on the experimental network, and analyze the results: the design of subnet accessing supports the requirements of accessing authentication and mobility handoff well, and micro-mobility reduces handoff delay and improves the performance of mobility. Finally, we summarize this work and list some future work.This work provides a platform for testing and analyzing the subnet accessing on Universal Network. And it builds a good foundation for following researches.
