The integration of Internet and mobile communication technology is affecting every aspect of our lives. And the theoretical research related to mobile Internet has become one of the research direction and hot topic in mobile communications in recent years. Because of many different wireless technologies co-exist in the next-generation mobile communication systems, showing the characteristics of heterogeneous. Mobile IP protocol is based on IP layer, and is transparent to the physical layer and link-layer, can better meet the requirements of mobile hosts'mobile communication in a heterogeneous network. However, with the continuous miniaturization of cellular systems, mobile hosts moving and switching speeds continue to increase. For mobile IP mobility management research is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, the design of an efficient mobility management solution for the mobile network to enhance communication performance has a decisive role. Mobility management includes the management and location management, this research work is also carried out for these two aspects. On the basis of analyzing the cellular mobile communication system mobility management technology and IP micro-mobility protocols, this dissertation focus on the establishment of numerical handoff model in mobile IP handoff management, and improve the design of mobile IP protocol location management protocol in micro-mobility environment. The dissertation main contributions are as follows:(1) On the basis of analyzing and comparing of the traditional cellular mobile communication systems, pointing out that the difference between traditional cellular network and mobile Internet. Put forward the three kinds of new model types for IP-based mobile Internet called "based on the routing hops movement," "limited scope of movement "and" jumping mobile " mobility model respectively. Pointed out the" limited range of movement "model in the mobile Internet handoff management had an important position.(2) Combination of "limited scope of movement mobility model," analyzed and compared the advantages and disadvantages of mobile IP handoff model. Established the improved Mobile IP handoff performance analysis model. For the first time, used the mobile terminal's residence time in the sub-network and autonomous system as the metric, reflected interactively the handoff characteristics of mobile hosts, and on this basis, with the residue theorem get the probability expression about a mobile terminal moves across i foreign sub-networks from when it enters a GFA domain to when it moves out of the GFA domain. And then get the mean expression of the mobile host crossed i foreign sub-networks. The result provided a theoretical basis for analyzing the general movement for the future performance of IP handoff protocols in the future. Further integration of the probability distribution and numerical simulation analysis revealed the relationship between the various parameters under different probability distribution of the mobile host's residence time. While the new model to reflect the characteristics of mobile terminal switching had been more objective.(3) The main IP Micro-mobility protocols had been analyzed and compared deeply, and proposed a novel location update protocols for IP micro-mobility. By adjusting the registration pattern between the mobile terminal and the gateway, the network was divided into a number of sub-domains with relatively fixed boundaries, effectively reducing the packets transmission cost caused by mobile terminal registration and foreign agent cascade. Improved the overall efficiency of the network. For the new protocol gave the numerical calculation and simulation analysis, and proposed a numerical comparison between the standard mobile IP protocol and location update protocol, the results showed that the new location update registration protocol not only reduced the network overhead, while increasing network reliability.(4) Combination of the novel location update protocol, further from theory to practical debated the algorithms for the subnet number optimal allocation in a management domain, and proposed the solution for the future management of mobile IP foreign agent optimal allocation in the management domain.(5) Combined the new location update protocol with the existing IP paging protocol, numerical analysis showed that this combination further enhanced the efficiency of mobile IP location registration in micro-mobility environment. Proposed a new way of thinking for mobile IP location management optimization design in mobility management.
