As the use of power electronic equipment is used more and more widely, harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation become more and more important.Active Power Filter(APF) can suppress harmonics and compensate reactive power dynamically. The compensation characteristics is immune to the variation of electric network.APF is used more and more widely and has a good prospect. The general situation of harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation technology and the trend of development is introduced. The structure and principle of work of the APF is studied.p-q method and i_p-i_q method based on instantaneous reactive power theory for the harmonic and reactive power detection is studied, simulated and compared with MATLAB.The i_p-i_q method is selected.Shunt active power filter's control strategies are described in detail and the triangular wave comparator method is selected to control the compensatory current.DC voltage is controlled effectively by the closed loop way.The simulation model of APF is built with MATLAB.The simulation results in different voltage and load situations showed that the APF can compensate harmonics and reactive power dynamically. The detection method and control strategy selected is in effect. The DSP 28335 is selected as the control core of the control system.Software based on the i_p-i_q method and the triangular wave comparator method is programmed, and its software flow is introduced in detail. The experiment results showed that the software could suppress harmonics and compensate reactive effectively.A design of selecting DSP as the control core and validate the method of reactive and harmonic current detection and control strategy in the dissertation...
