With the rapid development of power electronics, all sorts of power electronic devices have been more and more widely used in the power system. The problem of harmonic and reactive current that it brings about is becoming more serious, which threaten the running of the power system in the safe, stable and economical state seriously. The harms of the harmonic and reactive currents brought about by power electronics have been paid more and more attention. It has been a key research field in power electronic application technology to study the active power filters to compensate the reactive power and harmonic current pollution caused by power electronic devices.By the support of science and technology development programming project of Weihai, Shunt active power filter based on DSP and associated problems are deeply studied in this paper to lay a theoretical and technical foundation for the development and application of shunt active power filter based on DSP. The shunt active power filter studied consists of a active power filter and a passive filter which are connected in series with each other and installed in parallel with the harmonic load. The active power filter is controlled to make the series harmonic impedance of the passive and active power filters equal zero, so as to improve the filtering characteristics of the passive filter. The shunt active power filter studied is designed and realized by using controller TMS320F240 DSP. The harmonic and reactive currents are detected by the i_p -i_q arithmetic based on the theory of instantaneous reactive power.MOSFET is used in the voltage-source PWM inverter. The current hysteresis control method which the highest frequency is limited is used to control the current output from the PWM inverter. In this paper, the system structure, the theory of filtering and the realization of hardware and software are studied deeply. Based on MATLAB simulating toolbox SIMULINK, the overall system is studied through simulation. The simulation results confirm that the rapidness and veracity of the detection and compensation to the harmonic and reactive currents.
