Because of the advantages of moderate transmitting power consumption, reasonable equipment cost and good anti-destructibility, HF wireless communication has been used in the military communication widely. As a part of HF communications system, HF channel is very important. Now, HF radio test is carried in external field. This method costs much, being complex and easily affected by geography and weather. With the development of military information construction, the test is obviously unable to meet the demand. Under such circumstances, the development of a HF channel simulator to test the radio equipment is the most urgent task.Based on the HF channel, DSP and FPGA, the detailed scheme of signal delay system is discussed in the article. Then based on VC++ and FPGA, the software control system of the HF channel simulator is also discussed.This paper introduces a channel of communications and related theory. In the signal delay system, the paper presents a new method. Through FPGA and FIFO and other hardware platforms, using digital oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and other means of detection, this method realize the requirement of the signal delay system. Meanwhile, based on the software radio method, we use high-performance DSP and FIR digital filter to improve the delay precision.A software control system is also introduced, the system includes programs in FPGA and interface programs in IPC. Visual C++ is used to complete the interface program, and the serial communication technology is used as communications medium, and FPGA is used to realize the UART function.After analysis and comparison, the results indicate the system basically realize scheduled functions. Finally, a series of tests is made, and the testing results show it can meet the requirements of design.
