Design And Research On The Portal Of E-Research In Education

The rapid development of information technology and its wide application have exerted a profound influence on social life, economic development, scientific research, culture, education, etc. So far, there has been quite an amount of study on the innovative research under the Internet environment.With the in-depth e-Research development, many researchers now are paying more and more attention to how to apply the technology, methods and tools of e-Research in different areas of study, especially the social science. As for e-Research in Education, it is the application of information technology in the field of education and scientific research.In order to further explore collaborative research mechanism and its enabled technologies, this paper tries to provide an experimental platform for the further study by constructing an e-Portal of educational scientific research, using the data and the analysis achieved through the research process, finally offering the further research enlightenment to the later practice of e-Research in Education.This paper mainly discusses the following aspects:First, the paper explains the connotation of e-Research, including its specific concept and major objectives.Based on the above illustration, the paper comes up with the idea of e-Reaearch in education.Furtherly the paper gives an overall introduction of the virtual research environment and facilitating tools which are used in the process of e-Research.By examining several research platforms ,the paper analyzes the main features of current supporting systems for research and finally advances the issues that the portal of e-Research in education is trying to work on.Second, through the analysis of literature and other means of investigation, this paper analyzes the needs of the supporting system for education and scientific e-Research. And then a framework of functional design is made on the basis of the previous needs survey. Based on the framework design, the open-source software is taken as the choice of technological solution for realizing the design of the supporting system, which can be seen as a kind of design in technological application, also as a collaborative platform for conducting the relevant studies on the e-Research in education.Third, this paper also presents a detailed example of how to perform the specific teaching activities according to the actual needs of research by using the platform creatively, which is called Top10s thematic activities. Finally, this paper illustrates the evaluation and corresponding outcome the existed projects carried out in the platform, with the expectation that some conclusions can be achieved; some improvements will be made for the subsequent research, and also some references will be offered for the further study.
