Study On Information Science Thoughts Of Brookes

Since the 21st century, with the continuous development of science and technology, the development of information science is facing new opportunities and challenges. As a kind of all-around subject, information science has developed more than half a century and obtained many achievements. Facing the challenge of the new century, information science still needs to strengthen the research of basic theory. Though discussing information scientists'classic view of information science, we can explore their new development and a new vitality, it will promote the development of information science in the future.B.C.Brookes is a famous information scientist in Britain. He has many writings and original thoughts, especially he acquires success on the research of basic theory and bibliometrics. It had been recognized by academic of the world. Moreover, since Brookes'view begins to spread in China, it also influenced our academic research deeply. Studying Brookes'view of information science has certain significance.In this paper, all Brookes'life is summarized, the background of his information science thoughts is restored, and the section of his academic research process is divided. The paper has discussed the influence of Brookes'thoughts in China, and has prospected the development of this research in the future, in order to disinter the vitality and value of Brookes'thoughts on information science.This paper includes five chapters, focusing on the following main elements:Chapter 1 is prolegomenon, it introduces the background and significant of this research, it also summarizes current research situation of Brookes'thoughts at home and abroad.Chapter 2 focuses on all Brookes'life, it introduces Brookes'education, working and academic research situation.Chapter 3 is all-side introduction of Brookes'thoughts on information science. In this part, we first summarize Brookes'view of information science, then we restore the background of social development, science and technology and cultural development, information science development, and divide the section of his academic research process, at the last we summarize Brookes'view of information science and core work. This part is the key part of this paper.Chapter 4 discusses the spread of Brookes'thoughts in China and its influence. We make some statistical analysis about study on Brookes'thoughts, and citation of Brookes'original text in China. This part is the secondarily key part of this paper.Chapter 5 is the research conclusion of this paper. It summarizes the study on Brookes'thoughts, and obtains five conclusions, at last it prospects the development of this research in the future.
