Research On Methods Of Image Processing And Characteristic Recognition

With the development of intelligent transportation, vehicle license plate recognition technology has become a hot research issue. In this paper, taking the car images captured by electronic eyes as the object, the automatic vehicle license identification had been archived using the knowledge related to image processing and pattern recognition. Vehicle License Plate Recognition consists of three key technologies: vehicle license location, character segmentation, character recognition. Two methods of vehicle license location, HSI color model based and color edge detection based, had been improved and got a satisfied vehicle license location results; vehicle license tilt correction algorithm had been proposed and the problem of the vehicle license tilt had been efficiently solved; a dynamic template matching character segmentation algorithm which can rapidly and accurately segment the license plate characters had been approved; BP neural network was taken advance to recognize license plate character and got a higher recognition rate.
