The Research And Realization On Intelligent Car License Plate Recognition Technology

The research and realization on intelligent vehicle license plate recognition technology plays an important role in the intelligent control and management of the modern traffic. As the key technology of automatic vehicle identification, the vehicle license plate recognition (LPR) has attracted more and more attention. Based on the analysis of the current representative vehicle license plate location and plate recognition and image processing technology, the paper researches and discusses the key technologies of LPR, including vehicle image preprocessing, vehicle license plate location and character recognition. And it designs and realizes an automatic license plate recognition prototype system.Vehicle license plate regional location and character recognition are two key technologies in the LPR, which are for an in-depth study. The paper brings forward and improves the Particle Image Velocimeter(PIV) technology vehicle license plate location algorithm which makes full use of the two co-edge features of character images. It improves and simplifies the algorithm to achieve an accurate and rapid detection of a license plate region. On the basis, it has included the improvement of Hough Shifts rectifying method, Projection Histogram character segment method and neural network-based character recognition method. By these methods, it has realized the license plate incline rectification, the character segment, and has accomplished character recognition effectively.
