What Does Free Talk Of Southern Weekend Express

"Free talk" column of the weekly newspaper Southern Weekend is one component of Southern Weekend comments chart,which made its first debut in June 2007,and serves as a platform for public opinion,with distinct value judgement.As different authors express their views on the social,political,economic,cultural,legal,education and other issues individually.This paper chooses the column "free talk" of Southern Weekend as the research object,selects newspapers dating from June 21,2007 to June 26,2008 as samples.And adopts the methods of text analysis and quantitative analysis to analyse its contents. Through the analysis of the texts,this paper makes a thorough study of the value orientation reflected by Southern Weekend.The thesis can be divided into seven chapters.ChapterⅠto ChapterⅥanalyse the discourse contents and features of "free talk" of Southern Weekend,from the perspectives of the political democratization,market-oriented economy,socialization of education,cultural diversity,legal independence,and civilized respectively.ChapterⅦconsiders the value orientation of Southern Weekend from the above analysis.The thesis holds that Southern Weekend has a distinct value orientation,which shows a persistent concern about the bottom of society,and reflects the media's social responsibility and the spirit of humanistic concern.First of all,Southern Weekend gives full play to the functions of media supervision;Secondly,it inherits its founding concept of enlightenment;and finally,it pays a tribute to social progress as a reform supporter.
