Research Of NETCONF Network Management Based On Web Service And SOA

With the rapid development of information technology,the network has grown into large scale and become more complicated.A variety of network devices enrich our experience on Internet but also provide us challenges of how to manage them efficiently. SNMP proposed for the traditional network obviously cannot meet the requirement of complex and heterogeneous network nowadays,especially in the configuration management.And under this background,the IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) establish the NETCONF work group to published the new network protocol NETCONF in November 2006.and soon it becomes the standard one for next generation network management.The NETCONF protocol is completely the XML-Based Network Management;XML is used to encode management information and message format. Using the advantage of XML technology in network management,it makes NETCONF protocol more strong points than the traditional network management.The advantages on configuration amanagement of NETCONF make it quickly accepted by the most vendors and network administrators.It has been considered as the direction of future network management.NETCONF is an open protocol supporting private capability,and that is what makes the agents developed by all kinds of research organizations so diverse;meanwhile,due to the differences of language platforms for development,there is a compatible problem between these agents and management platform.That is to say,by now there is no agent that can support all management platform and provide service for them,and the management platform is unable to supervise all agents.Recently,with the development of Web Service and SOA,as well as NETCONF based on XML message by nature,all of these provide a solution for the above problem.In this thesis,after analyzing the widely used network management technologies,we study the NETCONF protocol carefully,propose a solution of NETCONF protocol implementation based on Web Service and SOA,and give the architecture of the system;moreover,using platform-independent Web Service and component based of SOA software engineering, we component the agent capability.At the same time,agent capability is encapsulated as Web Service published to public.In the way,agents can combine all kinds of capabilities freely for customization.Also,management platform can manage all agents which are based on Web Service.At last,we conclude this thesis and make an outlook of the discussed technology.
