As the socialist countries,China and Soviet Union, which were of wide influence in the 20th century, played an important role in the world. Since 1980s, the two countries have undertaken their journalistic reformation to perfect their socialist system. But they got different results. Soviet Union, the second largest magnate, after its years'political reformation, splat in the drove of independence and the government of people led by Soviet communists was usurped by the capitalist reactionary, during which its journalistic media played the role of advocate and catalyst; correspondingly, its journalism reformation carried by Gorbachov proved to be out-and-out failure. However, the journalistic reformation in China made great achievements as the Marxist journalism theory of Chinese characteristics was enriched and improved in practicing the reformation, journalistic media enhanced its own strength and made prominent contribution to the solidification of the socialist system, the construction of its socialist democracy and legalization, and the development of economy.Having gone through developing for 30 years, the journalistic reformation in China steps in the period of fortification. With the advent of the age of globalization and democratization, in Chinese present journalistic system and policies are there still many aspects incompatible with the historical development, needing reforming and improving. To analyze and compare the root causes of the different results of the two countries'journalistic reformation learning the experience and lesson is doubtless significant to further promote the journalistic reformation in China in a profound, stable and efficient way and explore a path of developing the journalistic media which is fit to and in accord with our national conditions. The"contemporary journalism reformation"in this paper refers to the one after 1980s in China and pre-Soviet Union.
